Royal Canin for Dogs: How to Choose by Size, Age and Needs
A Chihuahua and a German Shepherd don’t have the same needs. Royal Canin adapts kibble size, energy and nutrients to your dog’s size and age. Here’s how to pick the right bag in three steps.
Step 1: Know your dog’s size

For a puppy, use the weight it will reach as an adult. Your vet or breeder can tell you.
Step 2: Match the food to your dog’s age

Step 3: Breed and special needs

If your dog has a medical condition, ask your vet. Royal Canin Veterinary Diets should only be used when your vet recommends them.
Feeding tips
- Follow the feeding table on the bag, based on your dog’s ideal weight, and weigh the food.
- Adult dogs usually eat two meals a day; puppies three to four.
- Keep treats to no more than 10% of the daily food.
- Always leave fresh water out, especially in hot weather.
